Tax returns or VAT problems – what support does the business need?
Completing a return and investigating why the records do not agree are different tasks. Describe the problem before buying support so that both scope and responsibility are clear.
Define the question and period
Identify the legal entity, period and type of return involved. Is the work about preparing records, checking a calculation, correcting a filing or responding to an authority? Collect decisions and previous submissions so the consultant does not have to draw conclusions from one ledger entry alone.
Reconcile the evidence before filing
Compare the report, ledger and relevant invoices. Document what a discrepancy represents before changing amounts. Cross-border trade may require examination of contractual relationships, the goods or services and transaction flows. A customer number or an invoice country is not a sufficient basis for every VAT question.
Assign responsibility for dates and authority
Skatteverket states that VAT filing and payment timing depends on registration. Use the business's current details rather than a universal calendar rule. Agree who checks dates, supplies information, approves content and handles payment. An agent's authority and responsibility for the underlying records are separate questions.
Choose the appropriate level of help
Routine filing may be part of an accounting engagement, while a complex tax assessment or dispute needs a separate scope. Discuss with Stämkoll whether the need concerns administration, reconciliation or investigation. Specialist questions can be coordinated when needed; an initial conversation does not approve any particular tax treatment.
Discuss your needs
